Resume Teardown

Then I tell you exactly what to fix. For students and new grads.

I've done 4 software internships at 2 startups, CareCru and VRIFY, and got a return offer from every one.

Sample

What a fix looks like.

Sample: 3rd year CS student applying for SWE internships

Before

Worked on a website for a club using React.

After

Built the sign-up site for a 200-member club in React. Replaced a Google Form and cut duplicate sign-ups.

Says what you built, who used it and what changed.

Before

Responsible for testing and fixing bugs.

After

Wrote 40 unit tests in Jest for the payments module and fixed 6 bugs they caught before release.

"Responsible for" hides what you did. Lead with the action.

Before

Skills: Java, Python, C, C++, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Git, Docker, AWS, Figma, Excel

After

Languages: Java, Python, TypeScript, SQL. Tools: Git, Docker, AWS

A long list reads as padding. Keep what you're confident in.

Software engineering graduate

I'm a software engineering graduate. I've landed several internships, and got a return offer from every one of them.

I've been through it myself, so I know what it's like to send out applications and hear nothing back.

I also built NextResume, an automatic resume builder, with my team at the UVEC Hackathon.Watch the reel (46K views) @liam.codez · 13K followers

FAQ

Good questions.

Something else? Email liamcodez03@gmail.com.

How long does it take?

Within 3 business days of getting your form. If it's going to take longer, I'll email you.

What happens on the call?

We go through your teardown together on a 30 min video call. Bring questions about your resume, applications, internships or interviews.

What does the teardown look like?

A Google Doc with my notes on your resume, sent to your inbox. On the Teardown + Rewrite tier, send me your updated version and I'll take a second look within 2 business days.

What file types can I send?

PDF or Word (.docx), up to 4 MB. PDF is best.

Can I get a refund?

If I haven't started on your resume yet, yes, just email me. After it's sent: every note points to a specific line on your resume. If it doesn't, email me within 7 days and I'll redo it or refund you, your pick.

Can't I just ask ChatGPT?

It can rewrite a bullet. It can't tell you which bullets a startup will skip. I tell you what to keep, cut and move up, based on what got me hired.

What happens to my resume?

It's stored privately, only I can see it, and it's deleted automatically 30 days after you upload it. I never share it. Questions: liamcodez03@gmail.com.

Who is this not for?

If you're a senior engineer, applying outside tech, or want me to write your whole resume from scratch, this isn't the right fit. I fix and sharpen what you have.

Will this get me a job?

No one can promise that. What I can promise is a clearer, stronger resume and a list of exactly what to change.

Send it before your next application.
